Data Engineer

Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

Deliver Data Engineering solutions for customers on time and effectively
You will work within the broader Guidewire data team to improve our internal processes and methodology
You will participate in the creation of new tooling to support and streamline our project outcomes
You are a self-motivated problem-solver who takes initiative and always puts customer success first
You can adapt and perform at a high level in demanding fast-paced Agile environments
Flexibility to work in shifts as needed (to align with AMER/APAC customers and colleagues

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent level of demonstrable professional competency, and 5 years + in delivery type role
Multiple project experience with functional programming concepts
At least 2 years of experience with Scala programming language
At least 2 years of experience with Apache Spark for big data processing
Experience with performance tuning of Data Engineering frameworks for near real time applications
Familiarity with designing and deploying CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with data processing and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) concepts
Familiarity working with relational and/or NoSQL databases
Familiarity working with different cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
Familiarity developing and deploying production REST APIs
Familiarity working with customer teams to understand business objectives and functional requirements
Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
