Description

The DevOps role is part of the Tooling Support Team which is responsible for the operation of the collaborative tooling and CI/CD tooling. It is a growing team of junior support engineers who look after both the legacy and strategic tooling estate, responding to support requests received from customers diligently and effectively.

The tools are undergoing substantial improvement as the client is looking to matures its DevOps capability – the strategic CI/CD capability is newly on private cloud, and the collaborative tools are moving to AWS in 2024. The Devops Support Team Leader will report to the EMS Tooling Support Manager in a role whose primary function is to assist in the leadership of the Tools Support function.

The Devops resource is required to:

· “Lead from the front” a small squad of support engineers setting a strong example and a high standard for service quality, practice, and discipline

· Evolving the team’s soft-skills and technical capabilities through effective hiring, coaching, and ongoing man-management

· Partnering closely with the Devops Centre of Excellence to guide the Tools service-model’s transition from full-support to platform-operation, from 8*5 to 24*7

· Working with the tooling development teams to ensure the handover of quality tooling services into live support

The successful applicant will:

· Hold a Batchelor’s degree in the IT or Engineering field, and have five or more years’ experience leading an IT support team

· Be both passionate about and highly effective in IT service-delivery

· Possess excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills; be an assertive, self-confident, highly-motivated problem-solver able to work independently with minimal supervision;

· Be an immediately effective staff-manager with strong organisational and leadership skills

· Not with standing the wide array of tools under support, have demonstrable technical knowledge of two or more of the following:

o Ansible

o Artifactory

o Bitbucket

o Jenkins

o Jira

· Infrastructure experience in Windows and an understanding of how infrastructure is managed and provisioned in virtualized environments such as VMWare and Cloud
