We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our real estate builder firm. The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role requires a deep understanding of real estate accounting principles and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Main Responsibilities of Accountant
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Management:
- Maintain and update accounting records and files.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor expenditures and revenues against budget.
- Provide variance analysis and report findings to management.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage the processing of invoices and payments.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Ensure timely collection of receivables and payment of payables.
- Project Accounting:
- Track costs and revenues related to specific real estate projects.
- Prepare project cost reports and analyses.
- Monitor project budgets and provide financial insights to project managers.
- Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures.
- Prepare for and coordinate audits with external auditors.
- Implement audit recommendations and ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Tax Preparation and Filing:
- Prepare and file tax returns, including property taxes and sales taxes.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Liaise with tax authorities and consultants as needed.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights.
- Present financial reports to senior management.
- Administrative Duties:
- Manage and maintain financial databases and software.
- Handle correspondence and communication with vendors, clients, and financial institutions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
