Job Description
Job Title: Active Directory Architect & Level 3 Datacenter Administrator
Reporting to (Job Title): Service Delivery Manager
Location: Utrecht and Den Hague, Netherlands
The Active Directory Architect & Level 3 Datacenter Administrator is a dual-role position
responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing the organization's Active Directory
infrastructure, while also providing advanced (Level 3) support and administration for Windows
Server environments. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that the directory services,
identity management, and server infrastructure are secure, highly available, and scalable. The ideal
candidate will have a strong understanding of both Active Directory architecture and Windows
server administration, including troubleshooting complex issues, managing migrations, and
implementing new technologies.
Main Activities and Responsibilities
Active Directory Architect:
▪ Design and implement a scalable, secure, and highly available Active Directory infrastructure,
including AD DS, AD FS, DNS, and DHCP.
▪ Lead the integration of on-premises Active Directory with cloud environments such as Azure AD.
▪ Develop, maintain, and enforce Group Policies to ensure compliance and security best practices.
▪ Plan and execute Active Directory upgrades, consolidations, and migrations across various
business units.
▪ Ensure security hardening of Active Directory environments, including auditing, monitoring, and
implementing access controls.
▪ Develop and document disaster recovery strategies for Active Directory services, including
backup and recovery solutions.
▪ Provide expertise in troubleshooting advanced Active Directory and identity-related issues,
ensuring minimal downtime and disruptions.
▪ Mentor and support junior engineers on Active Directory management and best practices.
Level-3 Datacenter Administrator:
▪ Serve as the escalation point for complex Windows Server-related incidents and outages,
providing expert troubleshooting and resolution.
▪ Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), ensuring their
performance, security, and availability.
▪ Manage virtualized server environments using Hyper-V, VMware, or cloud-based solutions
(AWS, Azure).
▪ Oversee server patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities to keep the infrastructure
up to date and secure.
▪ Implement server backup strategies and ensure data integrity through regular testing of backup
and disaster recovery solutions.
▪ Monitor and optimize server performance, addressing bottlenecks and performance issues
proactively.
▪ Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell or other scripting languages to improve
operational efficiency.
▪ Lead infrastructure projects, including server consolidations, upgrades, and new
implementations.
▪ Knowledge on storage, backup and restore technologies.
Experience
• Excellent communication and internal personal skills. Proficiency in Dutch and English is must.
• Experience working with public sector.
• Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation.
• Proven experience as a Windows and Azure Administrator or similar role in a heavily Hyper-V
virtualized environment
• Relevant Microsoft Certifications are a plus.
