Urgent Requirement: 

Job Title: Application Containerization and Migration SME
Job Location: Remote (preference to Dallas, TX, but not hard requirement)

Duration: 12+ Months

Job Description:

***This has to be a really senior person and have excellent communication skills given that they will be customer facing most of this role***

Here are a couple of additional details:

• Plan for on-site travel as needed. Gold medal if candidate lives in Dallas.

• EST/CT time zone is best

• Work will be more hands on, some planning

Travel: MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL ONSITE FOR DIFFERENT CLIENTS, NOT EVERY CLIENT WILL REQUIRE TRAVEL—SOME PROJECTS, DEPENDING ON THE CLIENT, WILL BE ABLE TO BE DONE REMOTE. DELL WILL REIMBURSE ALL TRAVEL EXPENSES. MOST PEOPLE THIS HIGH LEVEL WHO HAVE CONSULTED BEFORE KNOW WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE. CAN EXPECT DELL TO PLACE THEM ON DIFFERENT PROJECTS EVERY 3 TO 6 MONTHS.

Example of Travel: If a client is wanting the consultant onsite, they can expect for first 6-8 weeks M-F to be onsite, then maybe we can pull back some after those initial POC and discovery phases (example of one project) 

Sometimes there could be a 1 to 2 week period between starting and ending a new project where they get a break. The hiring manager has a family and understands being able to negotiate these terms and be flexible.

We have got a number of projects that are requiring the need for an Application Containerization and Migration SME.

Top needs are:

• Platform as a Service and Containers as a Service architecture and hand-on-keyboard development expertise (has built platforms for cloud native apps from the bottom up)
• Containerization including Docker and Kubernetes (AKS, Openshift, Rancher, Tanzu)
  • Experience with migration of Containerized apps across platforms (for example, Tanzu -> Openshift or X -> AKS), including all underlying infra dependencies and how to handle for those (particularly as it applies to automating an app migration pipeline).
• Familiarization with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins (and at a stretch, Tekton)
• Spring Boot and PCF
• some NodeJS
• some “static app” concepts from PCF
