Automation Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated TV Software Tester to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end (E2E) and automation testing of TV software across various operating systems and manufacturers, including HiSense, Pioneer, and others. The ideal candidate will have experience with automation testing frameworks, specifically Cypress, and will be adept at both manual and automated testing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

E2E Testing: Conduct comprehensive end-to-end testing of TV software to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability across different OS platforms.
Automation Testing: Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using the Cypress framework to streamline and enhance testing processes.
Manual Testing: Perform manual testing tasks to identify issues not covered by automated tests, and to validate user experiences and software functionality.
Defect Reporting: Identify, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies, collaborating with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
Test Planning: Contribute to the creation and execution of test plans and test cases based on project requirements and specifications.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, project managers, and product owners, to understand testing requirements and provide feedback on software quality.
Continuous Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:

Experience: Proven experience in both manual and automated testing of TV software or similar applications.
Automation Framework: Proficiency with Cypress or similar automation frameworks is required.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, test planning, and execution.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and document defects accurately.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with TV software across different manufacturers and operating systems.
Familiarity with additional automation tools and frameworks.
Knowledge of TV industry standards and user experience considerations

Automation skills:

Cypress and JavaScript as well as Cucumber – these are the top 3 skills

CICD is nice to have – Jenkins or Concourse
We will not look at Selenium/Java profiles unless all Cypress/JS profiles are exhausted.
Performance Testing nice to have
Exposure in testing embedded Video systems or streaming apps like Netflix etc would be a plus.
This is an onsite role 3 days a week which may move to 4. 
Unsure about extension for 2025 at this time.
Interviews will involve a coding challenge in JavaScript offline + 2 Teams interviews which might involve a quick 10 min algorithm challenge
