Job Description
Client need consultant to study the mainframe program flows, Cobol programs, copybooks, CICS screens and Database tables and to professionally document them in a wiki knowledgebase in a readable, user friendly way. The goal is to help development support staff and business users to understand the technical and process information.
Requires analysis of business processes, requirements and study of new applications to translate into the required documentation. Position requires great attention to detail, with excellent oral, and written communication skills.
Individual will work in collaboration with various core team members and use professional concepts to complete a wide range of technical tasks related to the mainframe and its interfaces to ancillary applications.
Responsibilities:
• Work with internal teams (developers, business etc.) to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the system documentation requirements
• Work with SMEs to understand process flows and be able to convert them into formal procedural documents
• Write easy-to-understand user online help and user guides and suggest innovative approaches for documenting
• Ability to analyze, prepare technical documentation and coordinate layout and organization.
• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for intended audience
• Explain concepts and processes simply and concisely to help internal and external users understand the technology
• Work across various teams to generate effective materials for required audience
Skill Set:
• Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
• Ability to deliver high quality documentation with attention to detail
• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
• Excellent communicative skills in English
Experience / Requirements:
• BA or BS degree / Can be substituted for 10 years of technical writing experience
• Minimum of 5 years of Business Systems Analysis / Spec writing experience
• Minimum of 10 years of Cobol experience
• CICS, JCL, DB2/SQL
• Flexibility and the ability to learn very quickly
• Ability to strictly adhere to documentation process guidelines
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong knowledge of database architecture principles (tables, views, SQL, etc)
• Microsoft Office

• Mobile delivery and online documentation (i.e. searchable content)
Preferred Skills:
• Visio
• Datacom database
• HTML
• Velocity templating language
• TCL (Tool Command Language)
