Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. 
You will be developing and supporting the analytic technologies that give our customers timely, flexible and structured access to their data. 
Design, implement and support an analytical infrastructure providing ad-hoc access to large datasets and computing power 
Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using and technologies 
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and deliver high quality results in a fast-paced environment. 
Enjoy working closely with your peers in a group of very smart and talented engineers. 
Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers 
Explore and learn the latest technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency

Required Skills & Experience

3-6 years of related experience. 
Good knowledge of SQL & Python 
Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions 
Very Strong development experience with notable BI reporting tools (Tableau/Quicksight). 
A good candidate has strong analytical skills and enjoys working with large complex data sets. 
A good candidate can partner with business owners directly to understand their requirements and provide data which can help them observe patterns and spot anomalies.

Preferred

Strong Python skills 
Strong SQL skills

Business Group

Story Behind the Need – Business Group & Key Projects:

ORG is DEX speed. 
HM manages a group of data engineers 
Primary work with analytics and software/product team to build data pipeline and analytics to support their primary program goals.

Projects

They do functional projects handle by Blue Badge team. 
Also have some operation excellence projects and automation tools they need to build to support the operation excellence goals. 
The contractors will be working on these 
In the long run these tools would reduce number of tickets. 
Won’t be assigning any function projects (due to the long term need of those projects) 
Any tools/automation to reduce manual effort or improve the operational excellence of the BB team.

Typical Day In The Role

Interaction level with team:

daily stand up 
Spring planning once a month 
On call rotation 
Team meetings happen to discuss regular stand up items.

Task Breakdown

Starts with office hours in the morning, primarily trying to answer questions by customers. 
After office hours there is a daily stand up (team discusses day prior, tasks for the day, and any blockers or red flags) 
70% of hours will be with development with data engineering projects (focused engineering projects) 
30% of day will be working on on-call, ADHOC projects for the team 
Also have a weekly on call review meeting (where they discuss what are the frequent occurring tickets, how can they reduce it, how can they build tools to reduce it)

Candidate Requirements

Leadership Principle:

Dive Deep 
Invent and simplify – there are a lot of manual steps within this tool. 
Ownership – contractor will be working autonomously with limited interaction with the team.

Yoe

3-6 years of related experience.

Degrees/certs

Good to have a BA, but not mandatory 
Good experience with AWS cloud is preferable 
SQL & PYTHON 
Coding experience in SCALA
