Coordinate and work with other technical staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.
Plan and implement capacity and resource expansion to ensure data warehouse scalability.
Conduct research and make recommendations on data warehouse products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
Build relationships with development and infrastructure teams to gain an understanding of data architectures and required functionality.
Build relationships with vendors of application software deployed in the organization’s IT environment to learn about and provide feedback on their technical integration capabilities.
Evaluate, recommend, and select data warehouse components, including hardware, database management systems, ETL (extract, transform, load) software, data mining tools, and meta data management tools.
Orchestrate business intelligence projects and corresponding strategies between business units and development teams.
Plan and execute phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC) for a variety of data warehouse projects and business intelligence support activities.
In conjunction with Business Systems Analysts, is responsible for data communication with various stakeholders.
Facilitate the preparation and documentation of software requirements, functional and technical design specifications.
Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, data pipelines, applications, and programs.
Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
Produce ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system.
Identify inefficiencies and gaps in current data warehouses and leverage solutions to ensure data standards.
Diagnose and resolve data warehouse access and performance issues.
Qualifications:
5+ years working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting multi-terabyte data warehouses.
3+ years’ experience with database and cloud platforms, SQL Server, SSIS and Azure preferred.
3+ years’ experience with data architecting, data mining, large-scale data modeling, and business requirements gathering/analysis.
3+ years utilizing in-house data-intensive applications for end user reporting and analytics, SSRS, PowerBI, Azure Data Studio and Factory preferred.
Familiarity with D365 Financial and Operations, Customer Experience data models
Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
Proven project management experience.
Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Office type environment, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties.
This position requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
Position is primarily remote, with the occasional need to come to the office (Bloomington, MN).
Position may require some limited travel (locally and throughout United States); Less than 5% annually.
