Job Description:
The main function of a data engineer is to ensure that the data assets of an organization are supported by an architecture that supports the organization in achieving its strategic goal. A typical data engineer is responsible for setting enterprise standards for databases, data integration, and the means to get to the data.
Job Responsibilities:
• Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
• Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
Typical task breakdown:
Job Duties:
- Use Tableau and Power BI to create solutions
- Use Alteryx to combine data to support new dashboards
- Manage multiple projects for customers simultaneously
- Clearly communicate and document project progress, roadblocks, and anticipated timelines
- Seek information about the real, underlying needs of their customers, beyond those expressed initially, and match those needs to available (or customized) products or services
- This role will be responsible for managing tasks with varying timelines, including requesting support as needed. This may include getting clarity of requests from customers or guidance on data sources from teammates.
Interaction with team:
- I hold weekly 1:1 meetings with all team members, and we have a weekly team meeting and code review. Our Team Lead is available for support as needed. We have in-person team meetings 2-3 times per year. Department and division meetings are held regularly.
Work environment:
- Hybrid – must be onsite minimum one day per week or more as business needs dictate
- Infrequent travel required (less than 10% of working time).

Education & Experience Required:
- A combination of education and work experience (including internships) will be accepted so long as proficiency in technical skills can be demonstrated.
- Minimum required: Associates degree plus 4 years’ experience OR Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years’ experience OR Master’s degree plus 2 internships
Technical Skills
(Required)
- Minimum 1 year experience using each of the following tools:
o Tableau
o Power BI
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in SQL
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
(Desired)
- One year experience with:
o Alteryx
o Python
o HTML
Soft Skills

- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

- Confidence to request support as needed
