Position Overview:
As a Data Governance Consultant, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing data governance frameworks and strategies for our organization and clients. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Develop data governance strategies, policies, and frameworks to ensure data is managed effectively and aligns with organizational objectives.
Define data governance roles, responsibilities, and processes to promote accountability and ownership.
Lead the implementation of data governance practices and frameworks across the organization or client projects.
Establish data governance committees or working groups to drive decision-making and oversee data governance initiatives.
Develop and enforce data quality standards, data validation rules, and data profiling procedures to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with data stewards and data owners to resolve data quality issues and implement data quality improvement plans.
Ensure data security and privacy regulations are adhered to, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, or industry-specific compliance requirements.
Implement data access controls and monitor data usage to protect sensitive information.
Establish and maintain data catalogs, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories to facilitate data discovery and understanding.
Develop and enforce data naming conventions and data classification standards.
Conduct data governance training sessions for employees and stakeholders to promote data literacy and understanding of data governance principles.
Increase awareness of data governance best practices and benefits throughout the organization or client base.
Perform data governance audits to assess compliance with data governance policies and identify areas for improvement.
Monitor data governance metrics and KPIs to track progress and effectiveness.
Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and business stakeholders to integrate data governance practices into existing processes and systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Data Governance Consultant, Data Governance Manager, or related role, preferably with experience in consulting.
Strong understanding of data governance principles, data management best practices, and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM.
Familiarity with data governance tools and platforms.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and process improvement.
Strong project management abilities with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Relevant certifications in data governance, data management, or related areas are a plus.
Any Graduate
