We have an immediate long-term opportunity with one of our prime clients for a position of Data Scientist to work in Orlando, FL on Hybrid basis.
Pay Rate: $70/hr to $75/hr W2
Imp Note:- . They are NOT looking for advanced Data Science skills such as NLP, ML, or regression analysis. More root cause, statistical analysis, data mining, clustering, decision trees, and random forest models. It’s an intermediate level position with 3-5 years of exp.
MUST HAVES (TOP 3):
- 3-5 years of Exp. in building statistical models and data mining
- Ability to rewrite SQL and python to fix and make changes to models
- SQL skills to work within Snowflake database semantic layer
NICE TO HAVES (OR WHAT GETS THE WIN):
1. Dataiku (underpinned by Python) or DataRobot, pie carrot (ML and low code tools)
2. Articulate and can speak to the models
PROJECT DETAILS (Size, Scale, Scope):
What is the scope of work that is being completed?
- Team supports customer engagement on marketing side. Support leads and prospects (guests and former guests) on messaging of first party data. Work in the portion of email communication across social media platforms. Advanced analytics team supporting audience team that targets specific folks. Focus is to look at 1st party data and look at behaviors, propensity models, candidates more likely to engage through email, opt out of communication. A lot of clustering, decision trees, random forest models.
What part of the project is this resource supporting?
Maintain operations. Once a model or data pipeline is deployed they go into maintenance mode with those assets. Will maintain those. Failures, making corrections to data pipeline. Look at pipeline and understand what is happening. Underpinnings of model and understand what is happening.
Opportunity model, apply statistical analysis and grow in the role. Understand tool kit the team uses and dig into business and provide analysis.
Ability to fix code that is obsolete.
Combo of failures on jobs. Digging into root cause. 1 failure a day. Vast majority of instances is due to upstream issues. Ex. Determine a load into EDW was delayed for some reason. May just need a simple restart. Or failures that are more egregious where they need to migrate code with underlying issues. Syntax is Python doesn’t work with the migration. Need to research and determine right syntax. This could take a number of hours to complete.
Refresh and update models. Something that is existing, complexion of data may need to be changed because the business changed do to customer behavior. Sustainment and maintenance can be complex (2-4 week projects).
Being able to present updates on models through analysis and communicating that to Audience Team or strategic partners (marketing clients), etc. Explain and translate models and the “why” to doing it.
Ability to create models from scratch. Can take a brand new request into model creation.
- Unsupervised clustering, propensity models, not a lot of regression, focusing primarily on who is going to book stuff?
- Working with business side partners (decision trees on business rules, predictive modeling is easy to explain in that sense)
- Marketing and sales background would understand function they support and likely able to jump in feet first
- 3-5 years of Data Science exp. (ideally business side set of exp. (ex. Data mining)
- Restarting models that have failed, restarting the scenario/scheduler to run pipeline
- Predictors might be dated, new features need to be added, creating something new that is obsolete. Models that have changes in the business and no longer have use case (scrap or rebuild)
