Job Description
Provide leadership to design sessions with Stewards, Data Engineers, Engineering teams, Data Scientists, Product Managers, business and/or IT stakeholders, that result in design documentation and business metadata capture.
Understand business capability needs and processes as they relate to IT solutions through partnering with Product Managers and business and functional IT stakeholders.
Ability to identify gaps in requirements based on business subject matter domain expertise.
Participates in data scraping, data curation and data compilation efforts. Ensures high quality of the data to end users. Ensures high quality of the inhouse data via data stewardship.
Implement and utilize data solutions for data analysis and profiling using a variety of tools such as SQL, Postman, R, or Python and following the team's established processes and methodologies.
Lead discussions across business organizations, lines of business, countries/hubs to document business logic and sources of data.
Lead Open Data efforts, making data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) to strengthen Bayer Crop Science's effectiveness in carrying out its mission.
Lead trainings and discussions to evangelize these frameworks and objectives - Governance, Data Quality, Data Wrangling and Best Practices.
Lead multi-functional and multi-business stewardship network in which to evangelize these frameworks and objectives - Governance, Data Quality, Data Wrangling, and Best Practices.
Assist Senior data stewards by sharing best practices in data stewardship management.
Serve as point of contact for other stewardship resources.
Collaborate with other data stewards and engineers within the team and across teams on aligning delivery dates and integration efforts.
Define data quality rules and implement automated monitoring, reporting, and remediation solutions.
Influence the vision of Data Stewardship, advocate for stewardship teams, socialize the mission of data stewardship and mentor stewards to align with the mission.
Set strategy for implementation of automated data quality monitoring based on engagement with stakeholders and technical partners.
Utilize root cause analysis to identify trends and assess impact of data quality issues.
Coordinate intake and resolution of data support tickets.
Support data migration from legacy systems, data inserts and updates not supported by applications.
Partnership with the Data Governance organization to ensure data is secured and access is being managed appropriately.
Identification of gaps within existing processes and capable of creating new documentation templates to improve the existing processes and procedures.
Creation of mapping documents and templates to improve existing manual processes.
Exploratory data analysis, data cleaning & processing.
Perform data discoveries to understand data formats, source systems, etc. and engage with business partners in this discovery process.
Help answer questions from the end-users and coordinate with technical resources as needed.
Build prototype SQL and continuously engage with end consumers with enhancements.
Ability to deliver detailed technical documentation.
Experience in designing data catalogs, including data design, metadata structures, object relations, catalog population, etc..
Knowledge of data management best practices.
Knowledge of business or data domain within a business unit.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Agriculture or other related field.
Demonstrated ability to deliver detailed technical documentation.
Experience participating in the build and support of APIs using resource-based design principles.
Applied experience with modern engineering technologies and data principles, for instance: Big Data Cloud Compute, NoSQL, etc..
Considered domain expert in providing insight and authority to working groups.
Applied experience with agile development, continuous deployment, DevOps, and decision science.
Experience mentoring and guiding activities of junior team members
Data Warehousing experience.
Soft Skills - multiple organizational communication and influencing
Process Improvement a new platform is being created and support is in question.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Agriculture or other related field.
6 years experience (or 4 years with Master's Degree or 1 year with PhD)) in areas such as:
Expert level experience in relevant business domain
Experience querying SQL and/or NoSQL databases
Experience managing data using APIs
Experience manipulating data using scripting languages and/or data processing software (e.g. Python, R, Pipeline Pilot, ETL applications)
Experience profiling data, summarizing and reporting data quality metrics
Agriculture domain knowledge and/or Big Query experience
