Job Summary: The Director of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing Vital Materials America’s financial operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director of Finance is responsible for ensuring the financial health and compliance of the organization. This position plays a pivotal role in strategy development, budgeting, forecasting, controlling, and financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy in alignment with its goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations.
- Prepare long-term financial plans, forecasts, and budgets.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Present financial reports to senior management and the board of directors.
Financial Management:
- Manage the organization's financial resources, including cash flow, investments, and assets.
- Implement and monitor financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Optimize the allocation of financial resources to maximize returns.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Develop annual budgets and ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost-control measures.
- Evaluate the financial impact of operational decisions.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
Financial Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a finance team, including financial analysts, accountants, and other professionals.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Financial Systems and Technology:
- Oversee the implementation and management of financial systems and software.
- Stay current with financial technology trends to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Financial Communication:
- Communicate financial information and strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in investor relations activities and communicate with shareholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (a master's degree and CPA certification is preferred).
- Proven experience in finance leadership roles, preferably in a senior finance position.
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
