Firewall Security and Network Engineer

Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Network Operations Center Manager, this position will lead network firewall installation, support, operation, monitoring, and migration efforts. The role encompasses managing approximately 23 independent firewall-as-a-service clients. Responsibilities include maintaining firewall appliances (currently Fortinet), migrating between different vendor firewall platforms, optimizing and modifying security policies to meet demands and conform to security standards, integrating systems into the monitoring system, ensuring reliable operation, and consistent deployment strategy. The position requires expertise in firewall design, deployment, and operation. Additionally, the individual will collaborate on network engineering deployments, troubleshooting, and operations, making a strong background in general networking and route/switch duties highly beneficial.
This individual will be on-call for firewall operational or security issues.
Qualifications:
Must Have:
LinkedIn Profile: A LinkedIn profile with a picture is mandatory.
Firewall and VPN Administration: Minimum of 4+ years performing direct administration and primary support activities for modern firewall and VPN platforms.
Network Engineering Experience: At least 8+ years in a network engineering role, including route/switch duties.
IT Customer Service: A minimum of 8+ years of IT customer service experience, including incident resolution and direct customer communication.
Deployment Experience: Experience must include medium to large-size deployments with multi-tenancy experience.
Certifications: Network engineering and/or network security certifications are desirable, but a depth of experience is more valued.
Responsibilities:
Firewall Management: Lead the installation, support, operation, monitoring, and migration of firewall platforms.
Client Management: Oversee approximately 23 independent firewall-as-a-service clients.
Platform Migration: Migrate to and from different vendor firewall platforms.
Policy Optimization: Optimize and modify security policies to meet demands and adhere to security standards.
System Integration: Integrate systems into the monitoring system.
Reliability: Ensure reliable operation and consistent deployment strategies.
Expertise: Serve as the expert firewall engineer with a strong foundation in firewall design, deployment, and operation.
Network Engineering Support: Assist with network engineering deployments, troubleshooting, and operations.
On-Call Requirement:
Availability: This individual will be on-call for firewall operational or security issues.
