Description

Responsibilities of Hardware engineer:

  1.
    1. Schematic Design - Support the creation of printed circuit boards by creating logical drawings of interconnected electronic components by:

  •
    • Select components
    • Planning and implementation of analog and digital circuits
    • Creation of component entries and assist in curation of the ECAD library (device symbols, footprints, models, and attributes)
    • Conducting analysis, simulation, and calculations of electronic and electrical circuits

2) Layout Design - Support the creation of printed circuit boards by converting schematic diagrams into physically routed paths by:

  •
    • Creating and updating component footprints/land patterns in the ECAD design library
    • Determining the optimal placement of components and PCB features for EMC/EMI performance, power integrity, signal integrity, thermal management, mechanical shock and vibration, manufacturing, assembly, and test processes
    • Ensuring electronic components are compatible with and can be integrated with the mechanical product design
    • Conducting analysis, simulation, and calculations for power integrity, signal integrity, thermal characteristics, and EMC

3) Hardware Test Engineering - Verification of electronic hardware through the following activities:

  •
    • Assisting in ensuring the hardware design satisfies the product functional requirements, performance characteristics identified in the high level design, detail design specification, and technical documentation
    • Designing, planning, or setting requirements for necessary test equipment and/or test software
    • Hardware module testing and verification including parametric, functional, EMC/EMI, environmental, or other engineering evaluation testing
    • Authors and maintains the Electronic Test Specification documents

  1. Drafting, Documentation, and Sustainment - Assist in the release and versioning of technical documentation

  •
    • Prepare schematic, fabrication, assembly, BOM packages for release in PLM system
    • Contribute to and participate in reviews of reports, documentation and designs
    • Assist in component lifecycle activities
    • Assist in hardware drawing updates
