Job Description:
The Infrastructure Architect is part of the team that manages the servers and oversees the design of the various components in the network.
The architectural management of the network includes:
General design / configuration / integration / optimization of:
Windows servers (with different roles, file printer, AD, SharePoint, SQL...),
Collaboration tools (Exchange, Teams, and Office 365...),
Databases (SQL server, MySQL, Oracle, Sybase...),
Storage platforms (NetAPP),
Application servers (Windows, Linux...),
Virtualization tools (VMware, Proxmox),
Client design (data storage, roaming, profiles...),
Software distribution systems (SCCM),
Hybrid setup (on premise, Azure)
And taking into account:
Disaster recovery,
High availability,
Network topology + available bandwidth,
Network infrastructure,
Datacenters,
Cost,
Life cycle,
Current and future product functionality,
Available resources (euros, manpower, time, infrastructure...),
CMDB,
Licensing (optimization, reduction, reuse...),
Establish a coherent environment according to customer needs to provide the necessary services.
Responsibilities:
Ensures a good (high-level) design of the server implementation that best suits the customer, taking into account the number of users, required capacities, available network, available licenses, additional requirements,
Documents the design and makes proposals to improve the design.
Monitors the design when an update is needed.
Implementation:
Monitors the implementation in the test and production environment.
Ensures that the implementation works optimally.
Proactively and reactively examines all parameters, logging, etc. to ensure that the system works optimally based on the design requirements.
Troubleshooting / Monitoring:
Investigates logging information, SCOM alerts or other sources of information to resolve possible problems and takes action to prevent problems (e.g. setting alternative parameters).
It works together with third-party environmental scans.
Maintenance:
Regularly checks whether updates are needed in the design to keep the technology up to date.
Documentation:
Uses the standard documentation resources available at the customer.
Advice:
Advises on specifications/offers.
Creates and maintains roadmaps (tactical plans) for the entire IT infrastructure in the short and long term.
Defines projects to optimize the existing environment.
Analysis of the current infrastructure/architecture to allow it to evolve in a future-oriented manner.
Knowledge of a number of additional software is very important in order to be able to evaluate the current situation, including security risks and connections with third parties.
The knowledge of our central storage based on NetApp technology is essential here. In addition, specific knowledge of tools used in our labs, most importantly Evidence, is necessary to evaluate security.
This also applies to our mail protection assured by Trust wave Secure Gateway. An experience with these 3 tools of at least 5 years is therefore a necessity.
The security component will be developed on the basis of ZTA (zero trust architecture). VMware’s knowledge will be important in integrating NSX into our architecture.
Expert level:
Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Minimum number of years of experience in the position 15
Mother tongue: NL or FR. A good command of Dutch and French is important for this position.
