Position Description:
The Systems Analyst (Accounting Systems Focus) is a vital role within the State of Alabama, Dept. of Finance, serving as the essential link between the accounting department and IT infrastructure.
This role demands direct engagement with accounting systems and necessitates a thorough grounding in accounting principles coupled with strong IT skills, especially in SQL for detailed querying and analyses.
The successful candidate will be tasked with analyzing process flows and business requirements, identifying and addressing access discrepancies, and leading efforts to enhance system functionalities and optimize business processes.
Skills Required:
A minimum of 3 years in a business systems analyst capacity or similar, with a concentration on accounting or financial systems.
Demonstrated ability in diagnosing, evaluating, and remedying system and process complications.
Solid experience in liaising with IT and accounting teams to convert business necessities into technical requisites.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Understanding of procedures and controls related to Budgeting, Account Coding (chart of accounts), Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, and Vendor Management.
Experience with accounting and procurement web applications.
Experience with online ticketing/problem tracking systems.
Skills Preferred:
Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly those encompassing a robust accounting module.
Experience in system upgrade or migration projects, especially concerning accounting systems.
Knowledge of CGI Advantage Financial application and Ivalua eProcurement system is advantageous but not mandatory.
ServiceNow Application knowledge for logging and tracking problem tickets.
Understanding web application code behaviour (JAVA, HTML, XML).
Review server and system logging to identify unexpected results.
XML and interface file layout and content.
Experience Required:
Typically has 2 to 5 years of programming/systems analysis experience.
SQL knowledge to analyse, manipulate, and produce output from the database (SQL server is preferred).
3 years’ experience working with accounting and/or accounting concepts.
Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
Education Preferred:
Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Accounting, or Information Technology. Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP).
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems,
