Description
The Linux Engineer is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of the Linux server environment. This role works closely with the Virtualization and System Administration teams to fully manage the maintenance outage response, and operational support of the environment.
This is a full time role that must be hybrid in the Evanston area
Responsibilities
- Maintains policies and standard procedures to increase system uptime.
- Documents and maintains system standards; researches and recommends innovative approaches for system administration tasks
- Provides a second level of Red Hat Linux support; leads service incident and problem resolution efforts to support entrusted applications/products
- Leads troubleshooting of application, Red Hat Linux operating system(s) server hardware, network communications and storage problems within infrastructure
- Creates and maintains standard OS installation images for virtualization templates
Experience Required
- 5+ years of Linux configuration and operation in large real or virtual datacenters
- Intermediate or higher-level experience scripting in Python, Perl, or Bash
- Expert-level experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- IBM AIX experience
- Novice or higher-level experience with Red Hat Open Shift Container Platform and/or Docker and Kubernetes
Preferred Certifications
- Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator
- Red Hat Certified Systems Engineer
- CompTIA Linux+
