Linux Systems Administrator

Apex Systems, the nation’s 2nd largest Information Technology staffing firm, has an opportunity for a Linux System Administrator to work for a technology company supporting DoD programs in Columbia, Maryland ( on-site estimate at least 75% of the time)

Position Details:

Role: Linux Systems Adminsitrator 

Must have CompTIA Security+ 

Location: Columbia, Maryland ( on-site estimate at least 75% of the time)
Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent industry experience

Flexible, proactive, ability to work with minimal direction in an open and fast-paced environment

Demonstrated ability to identify customer requirements and articulate across the team

Significant experience as a Linux System Administrator, with a focus on large Hadoop and Accumulo based clusters

Familiarity with cloud-based repositories and associated technologies

Ability to effectively interface with external teams, including hardware, network, and infrastructure support

Willingness to provide after-hours support and respond to changing requirements in a dynamic operational environment

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelors Degree and 12+ years of professional experience and a Master of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study

Without a Masters degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (15+ years in total)
