Summary:
- The Mainframe Storage Engineer (Senior Technical Advisor) provides senior level technical expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise’s overall systems architecture, and instrumental in analysis and recommendation of infrastructure, architecture, application and performance enhancements. Provides complex and vital knowledge critical to the setting of vision and strategies within the IT organization.
Minimum required work experience:
- 12 Years IT experience including 7 years progressive responsibility within area of expertise.
Job/class description:
- Serve as a technical expert resource within IT in planning, strategizing, and developing resource requirements and direction for applications, architecture and/or infrastructure. Review and design system software and hardware builds analyzing system options, risks, cost vs. benefit, and impact on the enterprise business process and goals. Develop and document the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards.
- Provide expert technical guidance to project team areas as appropriate. Evaluate vendor-supplied software packages and make recommendations to IT management. In coordination with Project Leads, provide input on all proposals that could potentially impact systems. May perform sizing on proposed new services and systems through simulations of system configurations and capacity modeling for multiple platforms to establish capacity requirements.
- Review customer requests, security patches, and audit requirements for additions or changes to systems, and evaluate feasibility to determine if/how to handle the request while maintaining an adequate/appropriate overall systems infrastructure. To determine if requested changes are possible, review system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. Ensure data integrity and space requirements are met across a variety of platforms. Provide data needed to ensure reliability and availability of platforms to meet business objectives.
- Facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions, including architecting and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications across the enterprise.

Required education/equivalencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
- OR, Associate’s degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience
