Responsibilities
Design HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems that are code complaint, cost-effective, and meet quality and schedule requirements.
Develop mechanical design packages for permitting and construction.
Manage high quality BIM (REVIT) models, engineering drawings, and PIDs for all mechanical systems.
Produce high level cost estimates with material take off information for all sizes of projects in short time frames.
Manage and coordinate design with other disciplines, resolve design issues creatively.
Maintain, lead, and develop/write design standards, mechanical details, specifications, and sequences of operations.
Communicate effectively and timely to stakeholders and engineering team.
Prioritize and manage heavy workload to ensure high quality and productivity.
Understand new project/ticket process and work on several smaller projects a week.
Collaborate with end users to gather inputs, host meetings, take notes and be a part of cross functional collaboration.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Requirements
5 to 8 years’ experience leading medium to large-scale projects. Previous industrial / manufacturing building design experience preferred.
PE registration in CA, hard requirement
Proficient in the use of: Trane TRACE or Carrier HAP, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD
Familiar with the following design and calculations: duct sizing & static pressure, piping pressure drop, pump selection, NPSH, fuel gas pipe sizing, steam and condensate pipe sizing.
Experience in designing HVAC systems for pharmaceutical, biotech, semiconductor, manufacturing, and industrial type facilities.
Design experience with equipment including cooling towers, chillers, heat recovery chillers, gas fired and electric water boilers, packaged and custom HVAC units, air-source & water-source heat pumps, combustible & non-combustible dust collectors, dehumidifiers, fans, pumps, thermal oxidizers, dry and wet scrubbers, heat exchangers (shell/tube, plate/frame, brazed fin), control valves and associated instrumentation.
Design experience with systems including variable exhaust and supply, combustible dust collection, air to air, air to water and water to water heat recovery, VOC abatement, smoke removal, hazardous, general and process exhaust, DOAS, ventilation, and general HVAC.
Direct knowledge and experience in writing engineering specifications, developing mechanical details, and writing sequences of operation for HVAC systems.
Expert in: IECC, IMC, IPC/UPC, IFC, NFPA, SMACNA, ACGIH, and ASHRAE 62 and 90.1
