Role: .Net developer

Location: Houston, TX ( NEED ONLY W2)

Remote Capabilities (Y/N): Needs to be onsite at the beginning (4 months) and then can go to a hybrid schedule (1-2 times a week)    

 

Moving to Downtown as early as Oct/Sept - definitely by next year.

Has to be vaccinated. 

Hours: Primarily 9-5 CST hours

Project Details – Size, Scale, Scope?

Full-stack developer who can work with offshore team (C#/.NET, SQL Server, WPF services)

Mostly web apps but also have a few windows apps (WCF) they also maintain

 

Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like:

Will be coming in to help assist the current team lead/manager and be there to take over when she is away – help with management of applications as well as enhancements and upgrades

Primary task will be building out design for the offshore team and supervising their work (code review, mentorship, etc.)

25-30% or so hands-on development work (full stack) within the .NET Stack

 

What are the must-have technologies/required experience for the position?

C#/.NET (.NET core & ASP.net MVC)

Wants to see .NET core even if just 3-6 months experience (talking through further MAY be open to us upskilling in .NET core if necessary but prefers some knowledge already)

WCF (windows communication foundation) 

REST API

SQL Server (review stored procedures, supervise table design)

Basic JavaScript

 

Technical Environment: Not official Agile but try to do a good portion of things in that 2-3 week frame

Team Size & Structure: 1 onshore dev and then 13 off-shore devs

Needed Soft Skills/Company Culture: N/a

Education or Certification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering/Science or similar. A M.S. in computer science is a plus as well as certs but not required.

Project Details – Size, Scale, Scope?

 

Manage about 30 applications (primarily new dev but also some production support) for business support (mix of internal & external applications (payment gateway for example)- customer and also process oriented applications for internal (call center) etc.)

Primarily web applications but 1-2 Windows applications to maintain as well

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities/typical day look like this:

Will likely take over full requirements process and liaison between business and offshore for a few applications as well as supporting those applications hands-on with .NET stack development will be the primary responsibility (may take some modules and outsource some to offshore team)

 

Top Technical Must-haves:

ASP.net MVC (may move to .net core in the future)

SQL Server (mid-level preferred but have SQL dev who can do advanced work)

Web APIs (REST)

 

Nice to have:

JavaScript/JQuery or Angular

.NET Core (a few here and this will be more future state)

ASP.net Web Forms (older app still for maintenance and hope to migrate)

WinForms (a few apps here)

 

Experience: High mid to senior (5-8+ years of experience)

6-month contract to hire

Location: Houston, Texas

 

Project Details – Size, Scale, Scope?

 

Working with team of onshore/offshore in group of 10+

Support the marketing and operations and both internal and external applications related to the broker company business

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities/typical day look like:

 

50/50 hands-on (mix of reviewing architecture and hands-on coding C#) and then more managerial/mentorship -- no direct reports to start but may have in the future

Will not be the architect BUT will review and work with architect closely

Work directly with business (Marketing & operations) who are their internal customers and need to be able to communicate well with them and get their requirements and convert into technical deliverables that they will need relay to the development team for execution (Product owner helps with this)

Primarily will be focused on middle-tier and back-end of the application as well as integration with 3rd party APIs.

Offshore team does the user interface development as well as UI/UX work

Almost all the applications are on-premise and what isn’t they are looking to move back to that

DBA who handles the database administration work in SQL – just need to do the dev side

Currently using .NET 4.8

 

What are the top must-have technologies/required experience for the position?

C#/.NET

ASP.net MVC

SQL (more than just basic querying – need to also be able to write stored procedures, develop new tables, etc.) 

 

Preferred qualifications:

JavaScript (interact with but don’t need advanced knowledge)

AWS (moving stuff from there back to on-prem)

Level of experience target (junior/mid/senior and/or years of experience): Senior level Dev (7+ years)

 

Education or Certification Requirements: No requirements – hands-on experience more important

 

Team Size & Structure:

 

10-12 people – mix of on and offshore
