MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline
- Seven (7) years of practical experience in a network engineer role
- Design and engineering experience of complex telecommunications networks
- Ability to diagnose and remediate complex network issues
- Technical knowledge of advanced Ethernet switching, IP routing (OSPF, VRRP, BGP)
- Intimate knowledge of fiber optic transmission, termination, and testing practices
- Working knowledge of complex network infrastructure security (ACLs, stateful policies, intrusion detection, and prevention)
- Experienced in network management and testing (DWDM, optical fiber, wireless)
- Experienced in various WAN protocols
- Ability to stand, bend, and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional, Cisco Certified Design Professional or equivalent
PREFERRED ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS (In addition to above)
- Familiarity with next generation technologies including but not limited to MetroE, DWDM, FFx, IP/MPLS, IPv6, and wireless
- Hands-on experience with Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, and HP switches and routers
