Job Title: Optoelectronic Characterization Engineer
Summary: As an Optoelectronic Characterization Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in driving innovation in camera and depth sensing device development. We're seeking candidates with a strong technical background in optics and electronics, including experience with lasers, LEDs, and optical systems. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing experimental methodologies, developing automation solutions, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
Support the characterization and design validation process for Reality Labs' camera and depth sensing product lines.
Develop and implement experimental methodologies for characterizing and calibrating cameras and depth systems.
Design characterization targets and scenes, and automate measurement processes to ensure consistent system performance.
Set up and maintain experimental setups in the lab for characterization and calibration tasks.
Develop and implement data processing procedures to analyze experimental results.
Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot prototype devices and optimize performance.
Work with operations teams to measure and test product quality and reliability, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Skills
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Image Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, and C++.
Hands-on experience with lab equipment and instrumentation.
Experience in camera system characterization and validation, preferably in the consumer electronics industry.
Knowledge of free-space optics and setting up optical systems for characterization and lab automation.
Strong problem-solving skills in computer vision and image processing.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and C++ programming is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Education/Experience
Master's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
