Platform Engineer III

What You’ll Do:

• Responsible for being hands-on in building integrations, tools and patterns that are reliable, scalable and easy to maintain
• Ensure the quality of engineering within your team 
• Contribute to architectural and code review discussions that impact our engineering ecosystem 
• Raise the bar of the teams you'll be working with  
• Collaborate with leads and engineers across multiple teams to solve a wide variety of business and technical problems 
• Ensure our systems are properly documented 
• Contribute to the growth and development of the Wayfair engineering scene within Toronto and beyond.

• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of professional experience writing code, working with APIs, or building backends
• Excellent team player with a passion for collaboration 
• Great skills in solving complex problems with simple abstract solutions 
• Experience working in agile environments 
• Interest in being challenged in a fast-paced environment while having fun 
• Analytical and creative mindset, with a passion for solving business problems with technology 
• Ability to quickly translate business requirements into working features 
• Deep understanding of platform concepts and components - networking fundamentals, Linux system management and troubleshooting, containerization, HTTP and webserving, end-to-end systems design etc  
• Expertise with anything here would be great!
  • scripting and tools (BASH, Python, Ruby, GoLang)
  • Public Cloud (GCP, AWS etc)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Configuration as Code (Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
  • CI/CD (Jenkins, BuildKite, CircleCI, TravisCI),
  • Image Building & Artifact Management (Packer, Docker, Artifactory)
  • Application/Container Orchestration (K8s, Docker Swarm)
