Product Owner
Austin, TX/Remote
12+ months Contract
We are looking for Product Owner who has experience in gaming software development or gameUI/UX.
Deliverables
- All output must align with product’s strategic vision and Product Manager’s strategic direction
- All product “issues” to be documented in JIRA
- Upon new product’s ideate entry, begin to identify, define and write epic, asks & user stories for MVP and 1:N features
- MVP will require at least 2,500 user story points
- PO to enter epics, asks and user stories in JIRA
- Upon alignment with product marketing, PO to prioritize via backlog

- Create dashboards and metric trackers in JIRA/Confluence
- Maintain team pages as confirmed in Confluence
- Upon entering concept phase, maintain two sprint worth of user story backlogs (created, refined, in queue)
- Each sprint requires min. of 150 user story points
- Documentation required 48 hrs. prior to sprint planning meeting
- PO to enter acceptance criteria and align with product manager on criteria prior to upcoming sprint
- Work with other software teams to define/develop shared functionalities for this new product
- Attend/Facilitate Meetings
- Facilitate bi-weekly look ahead meetings with development teams for sprint planning
- Host retrospective sprint session and capture challenges
- Attend weekly core team meetings
- Weekly meeting to review deliverables with product manager/product management team
Deliverable Timelines
- PO to address/enter any action items within 48 hours of the assignment
- Provide notes within 24 hours of any PO facilitated meetings & document notes in Confluence
Expertise needed
- Product owner experience in gaming software development or game UI/UX
- Desired expertise in console or gaming handheld UI/UX development, Software Platform Integration or Game Engine Development
Job Description
- Understands customer use of product & customer’s journeys
- Ensures communication of customer problems/gaps to stakeholders
- Works across all functional areas, gathering inputs, updating product plans and roadmaps and communicating the impact of product/solution decisions to all stakeholders
- Attends system demos
- Reviews/accepts authored features
- Responsible for leading and lagging metric capture and reporting
- Works with engineering, enablement team, support and other product and program managers
- Has a solid technical understanding of the product/program and underlying technologies
- Builds a lean UX canvas to explain the product and asks in a much easier way to the entire team
- Drives agile maturity for assigned teams and shares scrum responsibility
- Shares the risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies with stakeholders
- Consults with Product Manager to interpret strategy, milestones and goals
- Prioritizes the epics of the application with Product Manager into releases that provide value
- Defines the stories and specifies the acceptance criteria without imposing implementation choices
- Adjusts the stories and prioritizes as per needs after every sprint
- Keeps stakeholders well informed of upcoming status as well as get their feedback
- Ensure that the product backlog is clear, transparent and visible
- Evaluate solution progress, based on value provided at each iteration
- Work with scrum master to establish sprint, meeting and demo cadence
- Participate in daily standups, retrospectives and demos
- Drive backlog grooming and sprint planning
- Remove blockers for team, reach out to other teams in order to coordinate deliverables and research unknowns with team as needed
