SAP ABAP Consultant with CDS, ODATA, RAP

Overview

The SAP ABAP Consultant with expertise in CDS, ODATA, and RAP plays a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and functionality of SAP applications within an organization. This position is crucial as it bridges technical development with business processes, ensuring that the solutions implemented are robust, scalable, and aligned with business requirements. The consultant will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design technical specifications, and deliver high-quality coding solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of SAP's latest technologies and frameworks, particularly around Core Data Services (CDS) views, ODATA protocols for RESTful services, and the RAP model for developing SAP Fiori applications. In addition to technical skills, strong communication and problem-solving abilities are essential to translate complex technical details into easily understandable terms for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement ABAP programs adhering to best practices and coding standards.
Create and optimize CDS views to enhance data retrieval methods.
Design and implement ODATA services for seamless integration with SAP Fiori apps.
Utilize RAP for developing and deploying applications efficiently.
Collaborate with functional consultants to understand business requirements.
Conduct code reviews and debugging sessions to ensure quality control.
Develop technical documentation for all new and modified functionalities.
Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior consultants.
Participate in system integration and performance testing.
Stay updated with the latest SAP developments and industry trends.
Work closely with the Basis team to manage system performance and transports.
Assist in troubleshooting issues related to ABAP development.
Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
Participate in project planning and status meetings with stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in SAP ABAP programming.
Proficient in developing CDS views and ODATA services.
Experience with RAP model implementation.
Strong knowledge of SAP HANA database concepts.
Familiarity with Fiori/UI5 app development.
Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git).
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies preferred.
Previous experience in a consulting environment is a plus.
Certification in SAP ABAP or related technologies is an advantage.
