Senior Business Analyst/Trainer - State of TX/Department of State Health Services (DSHS)

Austin, TX (Remote within Texas)

6months Contract with possibility to extension

We are looking for a senior business analyst who will help gather business requirements across program areas, become familiar with system operations and functions, document best practice methods of using software applications to accomplish program operations, develop as-is / to-be functional process flows that help system users understand the benefits of moving to a new system, assist business users developing test cases, and conducting online training sessions to show users how to best utilize the new system.

Knowledge of software development life cycle and systems development life cycle concepts; of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources; and of project management principles and practices.

Skill in business analysis methodologies; in analyzing and evaluating complex information technology applications, policies, and issues; and in developing creative and workable solutions to complex problems and issues.

Ability to analyze and interpret diverse sets of information including regulations, policies, and system functionality; to develop presentations, job aids, and functional documentation that will assist a large user base in utilizing a new system.

The Senior Business Analyst will be working with multiple program areas and technical groups during the implementation of the new system and play a key role during UAT as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather business requirements across program areas
  • Analyze old and new systems to define and document functionality
  • Develop training materials based on documented functionality
  • Develop As-Is and To-Be functionality and workflows
  • Create job aids about new functionality
  • Develop functional documentation on best practice utilization of new system
  • Produce training plan based on system release plan
  • Develop training classes and conduct online training for new functionality
  • Develop training classes and conduct training for enhancements
  • Demonstrate new functionality in Champion meetings
  • Demonstrate new functionality in User Acceptance Testing sessions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Years  Skills/Experience

8+       Facilitating requirements and communicating with business programs and end users

8+       Experience in analyzing systems to develop requirements, workflows, and other documentation

8+       Experience in creating job aids and functional documentation of system utilization

8+       Experience in demonstrating new/enhanced functionality to a variety of audiences

4+       Experience in developing and implementing training plans

4+      Experience in developing and conducting training classes for new or enhanced product functionality
