Job Description: Responsible for overseeing engineering tasks aimed at maintaining and improving the telecommunications and signal processing hardware, software, and communication systems within the company. Collaborates with technical operations staff on system design and configuration, working closely with design and testing teams while providing guidance to team leaders. The candidate should possess expertise in HFC & PON access system architecture, troubleshooting, and testing, enabling the successful development of system requirement documents, design documents, migration strategies, and strategic roadmaps. In-depth knowledge of DOCSIS PHY & MULPI specifications, particularly related to DOCSIS 3.1 and DOCSIS 4.0, is essential. Responsibilities also encompass the architecture and design of HFC access networks (CAA and DAA), including performance evaluations for various technologies and features. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a track record of leadership and innovation in the cable industry through previously published technical papers and granted patents. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial, along with the ability to represent the company in Cablelabs and SCTE standards bodies and contribute to technical papers for cable industry conferences. Day to Day: • Consistently support initiatives aimed at simplifying and enhancing the customer experience. • Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas. • Analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation as needed. • Test and review system designs. • Provide Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel, ensuring compliance with technical integration, changes, standards, and documentation. • Mentor and guide the work of technical staff. • Review work plans and designs, offering advice on improvements. • Adhere to industry-specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable. • Understand and follow company policies. Requirements: • Basic understanding of related industry specifications and standards, including IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet, and Transport technologies and protocols. • Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI Model. • Basic understanding of network devices and appliances. • Knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio. • 3+ years of experience in PON (Passive Optical Networks). • 3+ years of experience in DOCSIS. • 5 years of experience in the network space.
