Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities

Proactively assess Network Design requirements.

 

• Coordinate and oversee enterprise networking designs and preventive maintenance processes of critical shared and dedicated infrastructure at 2 core datacenters as well as multiple critical office locations and cloud.
• Solid understanding of critical industry standards related to Network design and security.
• Responsible for design and implementation of network and security strategy, Clienthitecture and platforms
• Responsible for enterprise due-diligence activities including network and security monitoring and metrics to evaluate effectiveness of the enterprise control
• Accountable for adhering to enterprise Clienthitecture standards, ensuring network technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization and contributing to enterprise Clienthitecture strategy-setting
• Responsible for ensuring necessary security controls are part of technical designs
• Participates in security governance and audits
• Participates in IT security efforts across all business areas and client groups
• Troubleshoots, recommends and executes action plans for design and issue resolution
• Serves as network Clienthitecture subject matter expert to business areas, project teams and vendors to apply and execute appropriate use of technology solutions and lead efforts to examine technology vision, opportunities and challenges
• Builds consensus around principles of network and security Clienthitecture and interprets and clarifies these principles
• Participates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of technology solutions including providing detailed analysis of pros and cons and build vs buy options
• Provides technical guidance to less experienced Network Engineers
• Create design documentation and runbooks that can be easily implemented by build engineers and transitioned to operational support
• Conducts post-event reviews of network incidents
• Maintains operational, Clienthitectural and design documentation including procedures, task lists, and Clienthitecture blue prints
• Evaluates strengths and flaws in Network Clienthitecture designs including performance, confidentiality, integrity, availability, access and total cost of ownership
• Facilitates project hand-offs including preparing documentation, educating and supporting to ensure smooth transitions
• Selects and designs tools that allow reuse of design components and patterns between projects
• Leverages and postures technology stacks to lead the organization into an automated self-service model
• Develops actual working solutions or prototypes based on their own designs and resolves any issues that arise
• Establishes and maintains relationships with IT and business area partners to evaluate designs and controls
• Continually works to enhance breadth and depth of knowledge and experience.
• Benchmarks technology strategies and Clienthitectures.
• Monitors and anticipates trends and investigates organizational objectives and needs.
• Provides guidance on network solutions and prepares benchmarking reports and presentations
• Promotes implementation of new technology, solutions and methods to improve business processes, efficiency, effectiveness and value delivered to customers

• Understanding of datacenter best practices
• Understanding of physical security and access systems.
• Maintain staff schedule to meet appropriate shift coverage.
• Task manage resources for complex or high-profile installations.
• Oversee and drive projects to on-time completion. Ability to manage multiple teams, some remote locations.
• Proficient in managing vendor relationships and negotiations.
• Work on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variance factors
• Plan and implement effective backup & recovery, business continuity strategies
• Strong influencing skills with the ability to communicate new concepts and drive process improvements
• Exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results
• Ensure data assets and related processes are in compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards
• Proven ability to work across multiple projects/products/teams
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Education And Experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science/related field

Minimum Ten Years Of Experience With Networking

Minimum 5 years of experience with network design

CCNPEnterprise Infrastructure (Formerly Route/Switch)

Required Knowledge And Skill

Expert level knowledge in networking routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Building new L2/L3 Visio diagrams from Data Flow Diagrams

Understanding and experience in F5 Load Balancers

Strong security background with advanced knowledge of both Palo Alto and Checkpoint firewalls

Strong background of WAN technologies including overlay technologies, such as MPLS, DMVPN, SD-WAN, etc

Strong understanding of and experience designing for Cisco ACI
