Key Functions/Duties of Position
- Develop strategic direction and road maps for all aspects of the Unix infrastructure
- Set design standards regarding system and project planning
- Provides final level support for Unix administrators as needed in their duties working on complex issues where analysis of situation and data requires evaluation of intangibles and data relationships.
- Ensures Unix Admins are doing proper monitoring and tracking of the health and performance of the Unix infrastructure adhering to SOX and audit regulations.
- Participates as Unix Project Manager in Infrastructure involved projects.
- Supports Kubernetes Platform solutions both On-Prem and Cloud - Operations
- Demonstrated support and deployment of high availability Linux, AIX / P-Series Environments
- Subject matter expert for specific technologies within the infrastructure practice (e.g. AIX/Linux OS, HACMP, Ansible, Kubernetes & Scripting).
- Demonstrates problem solving skills that span the application, middleware, and infrastructure levels. Ability to clearly communicate problem/resolution process to customers or management.
- Actively participate in the planning and implementation of systems, infrastructure and related hardware and software.
- Provides advanced troubleshooting for infrastructure, networking, security, and application issues.
- Collaborates with technical staff, including project managers.
- Provides project architecture and oversight with in-depth technical expertise on infrastructure projects.
- Be able to serve as a Lead Engineer on engagements and work directly with Project Management, Account Management and Customer teams.
- Assess and recommend architectural designs/changes to customer systems in response to business or technical drivers. Customer liaison for solutions including presentation of design and deployment strategies. Contribute to written proposals and develop technical documentation.
- Mentor and cross-train technical staff.
- Understanding daily administration of Linux servers, AIX servers, and SAN based mass storage assignment.
- Be able to configure, integrate, maintain, debug performance issues, analyze recovery, and address user issues on standard Unix Platforms.
- Be highly Knowledgeable around ESX VCenter Tasks including; Deployments, Cloning, Migrations, and API Calls.
- Provide Scripting support and scripting abilities within Perl, Python and Standard Shell commands.
- Understand IBM Virtualization layer including HMC’s and IBM Power Series Frame deployments.
- Ability to troubleshoot and provide Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning for Linux and AIX environments.
- Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
Education Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree or combination of education/experience/certification
Qualifications
- 7+ years advanced UNIX platforms/vendor experience
- Linux Server Technology support for a minimum of 7 years - main focus on AIX
- Experience managing Kubernetes and Container Solutions (preferred)
- Working knowledge of High Availability and Load balancing technologies
- Expertise in hardening, testing, and monitoring systems against possible security threats, with exposure to PCI and SOX standards
- Familiarity with SAN and NAS technology
