Senior Systems Engineer

The Senior Systems Engineer ETPA supports the enterprise applications at CME Group, primarily in the areas of electronic trading and clearing applications in the customer facing environments. The incumbent must have strong knowledge of application deployment/configuration, be comfortable with Linux/Windows platform, demonstrate scripting abilities and possess a strong knowledge of Java to configure and troubleshoot applications.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Accurately defines problem statements, then gathers and compares data about the problems and documents the details; Prepares analysis reports and seeks out all feasible alternatives, prioritizes the alternatives and works out a plan for execution with supervision.

• Demonstrates skilled knowledge of systems (Linux/Windows), distributed computing architecture (client server, intranet/internet), h/w platforms and resources - CPU, memory, virtualization, clustering and cloud computing. Configures systems and modifies settings to ensure proper functioning; Provides routine maintenance of systems, handling most deployments without support.

• Gathers requirements from customers; Analyzes the environment scope for business requirements and facilitates hardware and software requirements; Maintains the availability of environments for projects, including implementing execution environment plans and following application deployment/configuration plans.

• Troubleshoots most known and some new issues, determines the root cause, provides solutions and takes initiative to see the solution through. Verifies implementation and makes adjustments as necessary, documents the solution and provides clarification and support to others.
