Work Activities
Provide database administration services (e.g., script and instance creation, modeling, modification, copying schemas, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, and integrity constraints for moderate to complex issues and systems (e.g., production, non-production, and replication servers)
Document, implement, maintain, and support deployment and monitoring of moderate to complex database systems
Plan and conduct database system tests and implement corrective actions to ensure all database servers meet or exceed documented service levels
Configure and customize moderate to complex search features, queries, and solutions
Create, manage, modify, and/or convert SQL reports, extracts, or ETLs
Participate in assigned application projects as a member, but may function as a lead
Recommend, document, and communicate administration best practices for data integrity
Conduct periodic software audits of database products for compliance with standard policies and procedures.
Identify new initiatives and recommendations for database growth and integration
Monitor database performance metrics to implement tunning and improvements
Design, implement, and validate data backup, archive, and recovery workflows
Perform additional duties of a Database Administrator as required
Skills/experience Of The Assigned Staff
At least 5 years of experience in administration and management of database platforms and application backend infrastructure
Expertise in MS SQL Server platform and modules, including SSRS/PBIRS, 'Always on' clusters, 'Replication', and 'Auditing'
Working knowledge of Oracle platforms and products including Dataguard
Strong understanding of alternative SQL platforms and products including PostgreSQL, Sybase, AzureDB, and MariaDB, Business Objects, Power BI, or similar
Working knowledge of Data Warehousing concepts
Firm grasp on IT network architecture and server operating systems (Windows Server and Linux)
Ability to carry out administrative and technical communication orally and in writing
Strong documentation and presentation skills of data concepts and models
Knowledge of ITSM/ITIL concepts and processes (Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Release Management, etc.)
Knowledge of Information Security Concepts: Identity and Access Management, etc.
Ability to work independently and engage in self-learning
Understanding for programming concepts/languages is a strong plus
Knowledge of the zOS Mainframe concepts is a strong plus
Any certifications in database administration or data warehousing is a strong plus
