Location: Lynden, WA (hybrid-remote)
About the client:
Client is a professional engineering consulting firm providing specialty structural analysis and design services to steel detailers and metal fabricators across the United States and Canada. They deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective design solutions for a wide range of structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and aluminum design items. Their services include, but are not limited to, primary structural steel connection design, handrail and guardrail design, stair and ladder design, design of various aluminum structures, steel shop drawing review, field reviews, structural engineering software validation, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Urgently looking to hire a dedicated full-time Structural Engineer to join the team in Lynden, WA. Primary duties and responsibilities will include: Design of bolted and welded steel connections using specialty FEA software, as well as hand calculations; analysis and design of specialty steel structures such as stairs, guardrails, canopies, balconies, and aluminum structures, etc.; design of structures to the relevant US and Canadian design codes (e.g. ASCE 7, AISC 360/341, ADM, CSA S16, BCBC, etc.); preparation of design sketches and calculation packages; detailed review of steel and aluminum shop drawings; and conducting field reviews of completed work and preparing Schedules S-B/S-C. The work may also include assisting the Principal Engineer with managing projects, preparing quotes, and working closely with clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
· B.A.Sc. in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
· Minimum 3-4 years of industry experience
· Registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC and/or APEGA
· Proficient in the use of structural analysis/design software (e.g. RISA 3D, SAP2000, or similar)
· Software skills with any of the following are a plus: Mathcad, IDEA StatiCa, Hilti PROFIS, Bluebeam Revu, Trimble Connect
· Strong interest and passion for steel design, connection design, and steel/metal fabrication in general
· Attention to detail, logical problem-solving skills, and strong organizational skills
· Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· M.A.Sc. / M.Eng. degree in structural/earthquake engineering
· 5-8 years of industry experience
· Experience in structural steel connection design, steel building design, and/or structural steel detailing
· Registered as PE and/or SE in Washington (or any other state)
