Job Title: System Adminstrator

Client: State of GA

Duration: 5 Months

Job Description: 

As a member of the Information Systems & Security team in the Information Technology department, this position will collaborate with the Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) community to implement and support information systems. This includes the administration of cloud & on-prem infrastructure, servers, and applications. Duties should be performed to ensure high performance/high availability of systems and to provide the best possible end user experience with our services.
Essential Functions:

•    Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of GGC's data, information systems, and intellectual property.
•    Engage in the continuous improvement of system administration including automation, monitoring, patching, backup/recovery, etc. by applying industry standards and best practices.
•    Effectively communicate with leadership and other staff regarding the status of initiatives.
•    Help to document, implement, and adapt procedures, standards, and guidelines consistent with changing needs and strategic objectives.
•    Demonstrate initiative in applying information security concepts, principles, & practices.
•    Work with 3rd party vendors and contractors, when appropriate, to help implement and support systems.
•    Participate in projects as assigned.
•    Contribute to and use standard operating procedures and tools.
•    Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to service and security incidents outside of normal business hours.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Education:
•    4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related major) or equivalent work experience

Required Work Experience:

•    5 or more years of experience in administration of - Microsoft Windows Servers
•    5 or more years of experience in administration of - o    Linux Servers, On-Prem Infrastructure, and/or
    Cloud Infrastructure.
•    Understanding of information security tools and controls such as: firewalls, intrusion prevention, anti-virus, vulnerability scanning, etc.
•    Understanding of networking concepts and network traffic analysis
•    Understanding of common Internet protocols and applications

Preferred Work Experience:

•    Application of required work experience in a higher education environment
•    Understanding of IT Service Management domains
•    Red Hat Linux Server Administration
•    VMWare Virtual Infrastructure Administration
•    Microsoft O365 and Azure Administration

Physical Requirements:
Position may require local travel. Ability to lift and carry files and materials. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
