JOB DESCRIPTION-
We are seeking a seasoned Mainframe IMS DC Systems Programmer to architect, manage, and optimize our critical IMS DC (Data Communications) environment. Your deep expertise in IMS DC internals, protocols, and performance tuning will ensure the seamless operation and scalability of our real-time transaction processing systems.
Responsibilities:
IMS DC Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain high-performance IMS DC configurations, including message queues, message regions, and program specifications.
Protocol Management: Configure and troubleshoot IMS Connect, OTMA (Open Transaction Manager Access), and SNA (Systems Network Architecture) communication protocols.
Message Processing: Optimize message routing, prioritization, and processing flows within the IMS DC environment.
Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning techniques to maximize throughput and response times.
Problem Determination: Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex IMS DC issues, including message queue congestion, communication failures, and system hangs.
Security Administration: Enforce security policies, manage user access controls, and implement secure communication protocols for IMS DC systems.
Capacity Planning: Forecast capacity requirements, plan for system upgrades, and ensure scalability to accommodate future growth.
Automation: Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline IMS DC administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Extensive Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe IMS DC Systems Programmer.
Deep IMS DC Knowledge: Expert-level understanding of IMS DC architecture, message formats, transaction processing, and communication protocols.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages relevant to IMS DC (e.g., Assembler, PL/I, COBOL) for customization and troubleshooting.
Performance Tuning: Proven ability to analyze IMS DC performance metrics and implement effective tuning strategies.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex IMS DC issues under pressure.
Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with application teams, network administrators, and other stakeholders.
