Description The automation engineer at Verizon Wireless will work within a service development and maintenance engineering team responsible for writing scripts to test mobile voice and video services.
He/she will be responsible for building and maintaining a library of automated tests to execute against the Verizon Wireless network, based on test plans provided by senior engineers.
We are driving towards a zero-touch test environment. To start, we are building an automation team to tackle problems in two domains. The first is end-to-end service level testing, driven mainly by device automation.
The second domain is testing individual network applications. In this domain, automated tests will programmatically log into network elements/devices (bare metal and running in the cloud) and element management systems (GUIs) and execute commands, and then parse the output against pass/fail criteria. Future work includes automating network trace validation, interface-level testing, and performance testing. The engineer will also research technical problems during automated testing, analyze test results and assess severity of issues, provide test summary and reports, facilitate troubleshooting, and work closely with other teams to resolve issues and provide general tool support.
The individual will also be responsible for recommending technical enhancements to automation platforms based on work history and experience gained in developing the library of scripts. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the scripts that the team builds, accounting for platform, device, and feature changes over time.
