Sr. Windows/AWS/VMWare Systems Engineer
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Salary: 150-170K+7% Bonus
The Musts :
- Must have 8+ years of Windows Systems Administration and Engineering. This is a Senior-level role.
- At least 3+ years of Windows Server experience within AWS. (build, manage instance, AMI, load balancers, etc..)
- VMWare (On-Prep) experience is a must (VMView, VCenter/ESXi) - Operations and Engineering
- Must have Active Directory on-prem experience to work on Server 2016

Technical Skills:
Advanced knowledge of the following operating systems:
- AWS Services background.
- Windows OS - Server
- Windows OS - Desktop
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory administration. Should have some redesign background.
- Advanced knowledge of security administration as it relates to Windows and Internet applications.
- Advanced knowledge of various network architectures and protocols. Ability to support LAN, WAN and internet environments.
- Advanced knowledge of SAN and enterprise storage solutions.
Knowledge of the following operating systems :
- Any Linux would be considered a plus.
- Understanding of the design and development of distributed applications, application servers, and web-based applications.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Advanced knowledge of project management software, such as Microsoft Project and Clarity.
- Working knowledge of security administration and VPN's.
Experience :
- Minimum seven plus years of experience in administration of Windows, VMware, and supporting distributed processing environments.
- Function:
- Plan, implement, maintain, and manage all software and hardware comprising the PC/LAN, Internet, business applications, enterprise storage, operating system, and application server environment.
- Perform other related functions designated by the Windows Administrator Manager of Infrastructure.
Essential Duties:
Server environments :
- Perform Windows administration functions as required. Configure, implement, maintain, distribute, and document server hardware and software.
- Monitor, manage, and document server performance.
- Report significant capacity issues in a timely manner to the Windows Administrator Manager, Infrastructure.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise storage design administration and support as it relates to Windows applications.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery procedures.
- Provide end user support as needed.
- Act as internal consultant to other IT functions and business groups as appropriate.
- Advanced knowledge of the scripts for ongoing support (installation, updates, and patching of software).
- Provide weekly and monthly project status updates to project stakeholders and management.
- Participate in the patch management process and deployments of Security patches to Windows servers and third-party applications.
- Maintain high levels of system availability and optimal performance by monitoring the server environment and address performance and availability issues as they arise
- Design, implement, and monitor backup policies to ensure high levels of backup protection.
- Analyze system logs to proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact processing.
- Create, maintain, and improve documentation for our internal processes.
- Advanced knowledge of disaster recovery processes for on-premises and AWS servers.
- Advanced knowledge of AWS Workspaces.
Application and Infrastructure Support (Client Server, Cloud and Web based) :
- Work with vendors and users in the planning, implementation, change control, testing, documentation, performance monitoring, capacity planning, problem resolution, and disaster recovery setup for servers (MS Windows, VMware, Exchange) and applications (SharePoint, MS Office Suit, etc...)
- Support application developers/vendors in the deployment of new systems or application updates.
- Strong knowledge of IIS, backup software, and Windows scripting host.
- Advanced knowledge of security, business continuity, and architectures in cloud computing environments.
- Advanced knowledge of cloud automation using AWS Jenkins templates.
- Advanced knowledge of hybrid cloud data centers.
- Assist in developing system standards and analyzing application requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 356 and Azure environment.
- Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow IT services management and automation.
- Advanced knowledge of desktop management and provided second-level support to the helpdesk team.
- Perform research on system technology and resolution to complex issues for processes.
- Monitor all system alerts and assist in resolving complex issues in system hardware and software.
- Install and configure various commercial products on Windows operating systems.
- Advanced knowledge of multifactor authentication processes (such as RSA and OKTA).
Security Administration :
- Work with vendors, Bank Security Specialists, and Bank Security Admins for security-related administration of Bank applications.
- Work with security specialists to ensure the hardening of any systems and devices and that patches are being applied as necessary (servers, desktops, and applications).
- Respond immediately to security or usability concerns.
- Advanced knowledge of vulnerability assessment and patching tools.
Other Duties:
- Provide second-level desktop environment support.
- Mentor and coach the Help Desk team as needed.
- Attend classes and trade shows related to the Microsoft, VMware, and Cloud environments.
- Administrative reporting (server, desktop, and application performance)
- Perform server administration-related assignments, such as: budget assistance, preventive maintenance issues, and support for hardware and operating systems acquired in the future, as requested by the Windows Administrator Manager.
- Create/maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation on an as-needed or as requested basis.
