Job Description

This role will form part of the Enterprise Master Data Management (EMDM) group and will work closely with our Research, Data and Product functions.

EMDM at Wood Mackenzie follows Gartner's definition of 'A consistent and uniform set of identifiers and attributes that describe the core entities (parties, places, things) of the enterprise and are used across multiple business processes.' Our focus is on the entities within the data sets we source, refine and sell.

This role will work within one or more of the Enterprise Master Data Sets which currently consist of :

 

  • Organizations (party)
  • Locations
  • Assets
  • Markets
  • Price
  • Reference Data

     

Role

Master data allows for linkages between data silos within Wood Mackenzie's unique understanding of the energy and natural resources sectors. Data is the key driver behind Wood Mackenzie's mission to transform the way we power the planet. The successful candidate will be working on challenges around data management, pipelines, analysis and data quality. The role will support master data sourced from the following Industry/Technical sectors :

 

  • Upstream
  • Commodities
  • Metals and Mining
  • Geotechnical
  • Geospatial
  • Power and Renewable

     

Responsibilities

 

  • Form a good understanding of the data landscape, platform, domain, business activities and customer requirements from the organization's products and services
  • Work with the EMDM team to fully understand requirements of any new workflows, or the most impactful improvements to existing workflows
  • Create documentation to provide clear understanding of processes and enable migration from legacy systems
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to fulfil complex data requests on time and with high quality to derive insight or analysis.
  • Work in an agile, collaborative manner to foster an environment of continuous improvement and incremental delivery
  • Complete regular data processes and analysis, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and integrity of data from various internal and external industry sources
  • Work with our Data Analytics and Automation teams to identify and automate priority workflows, delivering efficiencies and new Analytics through connected datasets and integrated pipelines

     

Skills & Qualifications

Required skills :

 

  • Experience or background in a data related role, with understanding of core concepts around ingestion, cleansing, storage, and management
  • Understanding of Relational and NoSQL Database systems, with ability to query and analyses data using SQL or other techniques
  • Experience in data process improvement, business analysis and project management
  • Knowledge of agile project methodologies, documentation, and delivery
  • Good understanding and hands on experience with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, organization and communication skills
  • A keen interest and passion for learning new technologies or data skills like Python

     

Pluses

 

  • Experience with MDM/Governance systems (such as Atacama, Informatica, Talend, Tibco, Semarchy)
  • Prior experience working on Consolidation and Centralized MDM implementation style
  • Basic understanding of AWS and API's is an advantage
  • Ability to work asynchronously with team members and stakeholder across multiple backgrounds, regions, and time zones.
