Position Summary:
Performs registration, scheduling, financial procedures to support professional services and revenue cycle process, in accordance with
established Hospital and Departmental policy and procedure. Performs other clerical and patient care
functions to support Hospital and Departmental requirements. May assign, oversee and monitor work of other employees. Works proactively and in partnership with other staff and therapists contributing to effective operations.
Delivers service in conjunction with Hospital's customer service standards and expectations.
Essential Functions:
Billing Financial
Optimizes collections and charge entry/charge capture process for all services provided.
Tasks:
Verifies patient insurance coverage. Obtains authorizations for professional services. Assists patients with obtaining specialty referrals. Communicates co-pay or other balance due information to patients/guarantor for professional services
Arrives patients for therapy appointment, prepares billing documents and reconciles daily appointments with billing logs.
Enters charges for provider services into Cerner computerized billing system and performs key billing functions in keeping with PM&R policies and procedures.
Collects co-pays and fees from patient/guarantor according to established policy and procedure; balances and closes all payment batches at the end of the day.
Reconciles daily collections. Prepares, submits and makes daily deposits in accordance with established PM&R and departmental policies and procedures.
Reviews patient encounter forms to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to charge entry; consults with provider to obtain incomplete and/or missing data; verifies CPT/ICD-9 coding with designated personnel.
Clerical
Performs general clerical duties necessary to support therapy office practice operations. May assign, oversee and monitor work of assigned staff.
Tasks:
Places, receives and screens telephone calls. Determines nature of call and provides general information. Refers more complex questions to appropriate staff. Takes accurate and complete messages. Routes messages in a timely manner to intended party.
Performs accurate patient registration. Confirms with patient/guarantor accuracy of patient insurance information evidenced in system; updates as necessary. Schedules appointments into computerized system. Inform patient/guarantor of outstanding balance and payment expectations in
accordance with departmental policy.
Prepares and reviews patient charts in advance of scheduled appointment to ensure all required paperwork is evident and orderly. Performs filing duties.
Reviews and processes incoming mail and/or correspondence. Abstracts and photocopies relative information from patient records in response to documentation requests.
Greets patients consistently in accordance with LBH customer service standards and expectations. Reviews with patient accuracy of registration information. Updates computer records and chart information as necessary. Mak!:!S copy of patient/guarantor insurance card(s); secures patient/guarantor signature on all required documents. May offer patient satisfaction survey to


patient/parent.
Customer Service/ Quality
Performs duties and responsibilities to support internal and external compliance standards. Consistently exhibits LBH customer service standards and expectations in all aspects of work.

Attends seminars, classes and in-services as needed to remain knowledgeable of CPT, ICD-9 and payor requirements. Communicates information to assigned staff.
Attends required meetings. Participates in special projects as assigned. Recommends ideas for process improvement contributing to enhanced practice and faculty practice revenue cycle operations.
Follows consistently LBH customer service standards and expectations. Works in a collaborative, collegial manner to promote a genuine spirit of team work. Demonstrates willingness to assist others proactively. Displays an understanding and awareness of, and performs all duties in accordance with, the Hospital's Mission and Vision statements. Retrieves and responds to voicemail messages timely within departmental expectations. Reads and responds timely to email within departmental expectations.
Adheres to all Hospital infection control and safety policies. Supports JCAHO standards and expectations as it relates to position and assigned area(s).
Patient Care
Provides care directly to patients as assigned by a licensed therapist
Tasks:
Prepares and maintains treatment areas and documentation for therapists
Participates in patient treatment. including.. warm up, cool down, assist with gowns, completion of subjective intake forms, and other duties as required or assigned.
Reviews established exercise programs with individuals under supervision of licensed therapist

Qualifications/Requirements
Education/Knowledge: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field
Education Discipline: Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology through formal training/previous experience. Two years professional or hospital billing experience .

Physical Demands:

ANY GRADUATE
