API Designer

Work as part of Global API and Core Services team, with responsibility for API Design, aligned to value streams.Collaborate with API Service Architects/Solution architects to understand API standards and solution design and produce API design as per the established API best practice & design/development principlesWork with Global Enterprise/Solution Architects to review end-to-end technical design. Review/Ensure the technical design is technically coherent and future proof and compliance with technology standards and regulatory obligationsIdentify any issues that may arise to delivery risk, formulate preventive actions or corrective measures and timely escalate major project risks & issues to senior managementProvide professional consultancy/support immediately for application teams queries/requestsKey ResponsibilitiesA successful candidate will understand the details of the application for which an API is to be created, so that an informed decision can be made as to what functionality needs to be exposed, how it needs to be exposed, and what functionality should be included or excluded from API design. Modeling this functionality in an API that addresses all use cases, delivering quality solutions that are easily consumable by API Consumers.For this role we are looking for someone with extensive exposure to API development using a range of different development tools, with experience designing and implementing APIs REST, JSON. You will be required to:APD API Product Design and ATD API Technical Design documentation per API required to support dedicated Value Stream outcomes supporting all functional and non-functional requirements for all APIs for each VS outcomeDeliver reliable robust resilient and secure software solutions meeting strict operational specifications on a timely basis

Define application data and resource model such that the operations and relationships between resources are easily understood.Exhibit critical thinking leading to driving out efficient solutions capable of solving complex business requirementsMetadata submissions per API to support API discoveryResponsible for ALL APIs to be published with supporting documentation to our strategic API discovery tools, including Exchange.Collaboration on QA test case generation to support efficient and timely testing of APIsOngoing support to Engineering teams to resolving queries during PI lifecycleWork with SAPI / Platform teams to ensure analysis is validated against system constraints/future states/standardsRegularly attend the WPB API Working Group to keep up to date with API Design standardsRegularly attend the API Product Design Working Group to ensure product level design decisions are consistent across Value streams.What you will need to succeed in the role: Minimum Qualification and Skills RequiredUniversity Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related disciplineProficient skills in Java, Spring Framework, Web Service, JSON, RAML;MuleKnowledge or experience in Enterprise Integration Platform EIP and API design with implementation experience on any ESB tools IIB , Mule, MQ, SpringBootKnowledge and experience of DevOps, Microservice, Restful API, Agile concepts, API Design, Data modelling, RAML and JSON Schema.Knowledge of DevOps tooling such as Jenkins, Git, Jira/Confluence, AppD, Docker, KubernetesAgile and scrum methodology
