Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated API Developer to join our dynamic team. As an API Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable APIs that enable seamless integration between various systems and applications within NextEra Energy. This position will specifically focus on supporting and maintaining Apigee, as well as configuring and implementing Tyk for scalability.

Responsibilities

Support and maintain Apigee, including development work on the platform

Configure and implement Tyk, as well as other potential tools, for scalability and security

Assist in installing and running the Tyk application in a cloud-based environment

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, architects, and product owners, to gather requirements and define API specifications

Create and maintain technical documentation, including API specifications, user guides, and developer documentation.

Troubleshoot and resolve API-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and integration problems.

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in API development and recommend improvements to enhance NextEra Energy's API ecosystem

Conduct thorough testing and debugging of APIs to ensure they meet functional and non-functional requirements

Collaborate with third-party vendors and external partners to integrate their systems with NextEra Energy's APIs

Requirements

Proven experience as an API Developer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of API projects

Experience with Apigee, including development work on the platform

Familiarity with Tyk or other API gateway tools, with a focus on configuration and implementation

Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, and knowledge of containerization technologies like Kubernetes

4+ years of experience in API development and full stack development, with proficiency in any programming language

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Inquisitive and proactive mindset, with the ability to ask questions and get the job done

Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders and effectively convey technical concepts
