Position Summary:
|
Responsible for coding, testing, analysis, design, definition, development and implementation of business applications within MBRe's Information Services department. Those holding this position are typically assigned to project teams and collaborate with IT colleagues and other stakeholders to evaluate and implement technical requirements one or more computing environments. |
Expected Results: |
1. Successfully develops, tests, and implements business applications or components thereof that meet or exceed the expectations of MBRe's employees and customers. 2. Adheres to information technology principles, standards, and guidelines in order to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, reliable, secure and well-documented products and services. 3. Demonstrates technical expertise to provide support for complex systems. 4. Under the guidance of assigned objectives; this individual plans and arranges his/her own work, referring only unusual cases to next level of supervision. Provides input for estimates and timeframes during all project lifecycle phases. 5. Demonstrates an understanding of MBRe's goals and develops solutions that are aligned with those goals. 6. Maintains regular contact with department personnel and other departments and demonstrates good interpersonal skills to achieve a cooperative working relationship and avoid conflicts. 7. Participates on small to medium business application development/enhancements projects. 8. Demonstrates ability to perform in a team environment with other business application developers. |
Skills/Knowledge: |
Understands MBRe's current/planned technological environment and the appropriate technologies, tools, and techniques used to solve business problems. Exhibits the ability to think in the abstract in order to compare similar, but not exact, business processes. Exhibits ability to communicate verbally and on paper in a manner that clearly and accurately conveys complicated and sophisticated technical language and concepts to a wide spectrum of users and non-users of technology. Demonstrates ability to translate requirements and models into highly effective technical processes and/or business system design. Demonstrates ability to design and/or code procedures/programs in one or more of MBRe's primary software environments. Demonstrates ability to stay abreast of the current technology environment and understand future technology trends. |
Problem Solving & Judgement: |
1. Develops accurate estimates of time and effort required to analyze, code, test, prepare appropriate documentation for and implement changes to programs and procedures that support a business functional area, and produces the necessary work plans and test plans for accomplishing these changes in a complex computing environment. 2. Codes and debugs software in a complex operating environment, including modifying internally developed software to achieve consistent performance and conformance with specifications and/or conclusively tracing failure(s) to one or more commercial software products. |

1. Decides how to translate written requirements into technical solutions. 2. Decides how to test the functionality and/or performance of a given technology solution or configuration, and evaluates test results in order to determine if the functionality and/or performance meet specifications and/or user requirements. 3. This position develops, implements, and/or supports information technology platforms that support the business processes of one or more major business units within the corporation. The business units may consequently be partially to fully dependent upon the success of these activities, e.g. to process policies, process financial transactions, etc. |
Working Conditions: |
Normal office environment with high level of mental activity and attention to detail. 80% time spent at computer and 0% travel. |
