We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Server Patching Specialist to join our dynamic IT team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing patching activities across a diverse range of application servers in various technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of server environments, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
Patching Strategy and Planning:
Develop and execute comprehensive patching strategies for application servers in different technologies.
Collaborate with system administrators, security teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Automate Patch packages with tools such as Windows SCCM, Ansible
Technology Expertise
Proficient in patching application servers across diverse platforms, including but not limited to:
Java Application Servers (e.g., Weblogic)
Oracle Support tools (e.g. OPatch)
Microsoft .NET Servers (e.g., IIS)
Web Servers (e.g., Nginx unit)
Database Servers (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle)
Windows SCCM, Ansible
Redhat Entreprise experience is a nice to have
Some exposure to the Azure Cloud
Risk Assessment
Conduct risk assessments related to patching activities and implement mitigation strategies.
Stay informed about security vulnerabilities and industry best practices related to application server patching.
Implementation And Documentation
Execute patching activities by established schedules and change management processes.
Document all patching processes, configurations, and outcomes for audit and reference purposes.
Performance Monitoring
Monitor the performance of application servers post-patching to ensure optimal functionality.
Address and resolve any issues related to patching activities promptly.
Collaboration And Communication
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate patching efforts.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on patching activities, status, and potential impacts.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Application Server patching.
Proven experience in application server patching across multiple technologies.
Strong understanding of server environments, security protocols, and best practices.
Familiarity with scripting languages for automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
