Description

Description:

Overview:

Client is currently implementing the Enterprise Analytics Platform (EAP) project. -Madison IT teams and SA project teams are working collaboratively to create an AWS data lake that will be shared across multiple administrative project and operational teams including ATP, ASP, and EAP as well as with the vendor Helio Campus, whose software helps deliver enterprise tableau reporting needs from an Amazon Web Service (AWS) Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) securely to users at some or all of the 13 System campuses.

• In order to realize the data lake, a variety of initial AWS tool, configuration, and set-up choices will need to be made and implemented in the AWS space.

• Madison DoIT public cloud team is in support of the EAP project and consults with the EAP/ASP/ATP project teams, but does not have the resources and time to administer the EAP AWS space.

• In order to meet EAP and other administrative project deadlines, an acceleration of work around AWS configuration, set-up, and tools is necessary. This acceleration would be done with the goal of building an operational data lake structure that could start to ingest “ponds” of governed enterprise data as EAP/ATP/ASP requirements start to work through EAP governance on various timelines.

• This acceleration could be addressed by focusing existing EAP project resources, such as the development team, temporarily into roles that will focus on the AWS set-up work, since it is foundational and a blocker to other work they may do on the project at a later time. Additional consulting resourcing would be necessary to support this group with AWS expertise.

• The resource will be focused specifically on AWS data lake set-up and configuration tasks that would initially align with the tasks identified in the Acceleration Goals section below. This position could be temporary during the life of the AWS acceleration. Decisions could be made after the acceleration around further needs from this role.
