Serves as project lead for data visualization projects, as assigned
Preps, validates, and analyzes agency data sources with minimal guidance
Conducts data quality checks, as needed, to ensure the validity and cleanliness of agency datasets prior to their use in analysis and reporting
Designs and develops effective Tableau dashboard and other visualizations for the purpose of communicating public health insight(s) to a wide variety of audiences.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop Client ways of visualizing the findings of public health data analysis.
Provide technical assistance to IDOH program areas for updating and maintaining existing dashboards.
Presents key findings and summaries of results to internal and external stakeholders
Adheres to HIPAA and other state statutes concerned with protecting data confidentiality and individual privacy
Supports IDOH Data Transformation Office activities, as requested
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in biostatistics, mathematics, epidemiology, analytics, programming, or related field.
1-3 years of directly applicable experience in data analytics.
Demonstrated experience with data manipulation, including cleansing, standardizing, and transforming preferred.
General knowledge of statistical software, open-source programming languages, and database querying.
Proficiency using Tableau and Tableau Prep is required; experience with PowerBI or other tools is also preferred.
General knowledge of at least one of the following is preferred: SAS, SQL, R, Python, ArcGIS.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
Broad knowledge of data analysis, analytics, or statistics or demonstrated ability to learn.
