Cassandra Database Administrator

Responsibilities:

• Design and engineer the DataStax Enterprise/Cassandra database environment
• Sun rising DSE/Cassandra technology and establishing the standards, configurations and processes to enable a highly performant and available database platform
• Design, deploy and support highly available and scalable distributed Cassandra (DataStax) database solutions for high volume applications
• Manage the full operational lifecycle of Cassandra databases including sizing, technology selection, deployment, monitoring & decommissioning
• Maintain and develop data models, structures and procedures to ensure integrity and performance
• Assist in the migration of existing database applications from another RDBMS to Cassandra
• Provide knowledge and recommendations on database performance, security, backup/recovery and more

We are looking for someone with:

• Experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting DSE/Cassandra
• Experience with Casandra schema design, performance tuning and CQL queries
• Experience in DataStax/Cassandra Enterprise edition 6.0
• Experience in Cassandra data modeling and designing highly performant data structures
• Experience tuning Cassandra databases using DSE management tools (OpsCenter)
• Strong experience with UNIX / Linux, including command line editors, scripting (shell, Perl, etc.)
• Solid knowledge and experience administering relational databases, such as Oracle
• DSE Cassandra course completion and professional certification
