Responsibilities
**This position offers a hybrid work environment which includes the ability to work from home, but will also require an on-site presence as needed at our Lakeside and/or Clayton Corporate HQ campus locations in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Cloud Data Engineering organization plays a critical role in building and delivering data assets to support Enterprise Mobility’s Data Strategy and vision. Leveraging the latest technologies in the Azure Cloud we ingest and integrate data to build out a catalog of Certified Data Assets (CDAs) for teams to access via APIs, Power BI, Reporting Applications and Data Science. Cloud Data Engineering APIs are used to deliver key insights and capabilities for business-critical applications such as Greenlight and Game Plan where constant availability, robust performance and data freshness are essential. In addition to partnering with many Solution Teams across IT, we also partner closely with the Data & Analytics organization to ensure our catalog of CDAs meet the Business Intelligence, Reporting and Data Science needs of the business including the opportunity to apply advanced machine learning and AI methods. The Cloud Data Engineering team leverages industry leading cloud technologies in the Azure ecosystem which is supported by deep partnerships with both Microsoft and Databricks. As the Cloud Data Engineering Department Manager of the Rental Domain, you will set the strategic direction for the team, develop and foster the relationship with business leaders and other IT teams, and oversee the development and professional growth of the team members. You will develop a deep understanding of the business objectives, projects and priorities across the Rental Domain and identify how data assets and solutions can help achieve those goals. You will be responsible for negotiating priorities and setting expectations across a wide range of senior business and IT leaders and build consensus on the roadmap for the data assets and solutions. You will also be responsible for building relationships with the other IT leaders supporting the Rental Domain and/or requiring Rental data, so as to ensure project deadlines are met, tightly coupled release management methodologies exist with the rental applications, requirements are documented, thorough functional and performance testing is completed, high quality code deployments are routine, applications are well documented, alerting and monitoring is implemented throughout the data pipeline process, data ingestion and ETL processes perform at the highest levels and Rental Domains are supported 24x7 at the highest levels. As a business partner to the Data and Analytics organization, you will be responsible for working closely with them to manage demand for Rental Domain Reporting, Data Analytics and Data Science needs.
Additional responsibilities include the following:
Set strategic direction for the Cloud Data Engineering team’s Rental domain related to staffing, products, support, and services
Collaborate with Business and IT Leaders to drive out priorities for global data initiatives across multiple functional areas of the business spanning multiple programs and projects
Manage teams performing analysis, design, development, testing, and support of data acquisition, integration, and serving applications to deliver high quality data assets and services used across Car Rental company
Provide strategic communications and updates on Data Engineering initiatives to a broad business and IT audience
Gain executive support across multiple disciplines to ensure Data Engineering solutions satisfy a broad spectrum of company needs
Build, develop, and extend relationships across IT, to ensure the Data Engineering solutions align with the overall IT strategy and can be leveraged by other IT teams for maximum value
Work with the Cloud Enablement Team to negotiate vendor agreements for technology platforms and services agreements as required
Mentor and develop members of the Cloud Data Engineering Team to shape a world class Data Engineering organization

Qualifications
Required:
Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
8+ years of related IT experience
5+ years of success leading multiple teams within a large enterprise IT organization
Excellent analytical skills as proven through past success creating, implementing and executing transformational strategy
Proven leadership of large application development teams with experience in processing high transaction workloads of mission critical applications
Knowledge and familiarity with data engineering concepts and trends
Proven leadership, results orientation and self-motivation traits
Excellent relationship building skills within the executive landscape
Superb communication skills – both written and verbal designed to engage an audience across a broad range of technical expertise and/or business acumen
Ability to envision new technologies and solutions
High degree of collaboration skills; works well with others as it relates to generating ideas
Demonstrated ability to quickly comprehend a broad array of initiatives to direct Project Scope, Requirements Gathering and Change Management to meet changing Business and IT objectives
Past experience and high comfort level with presenting at the executive level
Strong skills and experience mentoring and developing IT professionals, to ensure the team’s success and enable the employees to achieve their career goals
Proficient knowledge of project management concepts, from planning and inception, through implementation and support

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related field preferred
