Cloud Data Engineer/Data Warehouse Generalist

Job Description:

We are seeking a versatile individual capable of handling a hybrid role encompassing cloud data engineering and basic data warehouse provisioning tasks. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing our data infrastructure, which includes a data warehouse developed by an offshore team. The front end of our system utilizes Power BI, while backend tasks involve utilizing various tools for transforming and maintaining the data warehouse. This includes tasks such as setting up users, providing access to the data warehouse, and overseeing operations.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the offshore team to manage and maintain the data warehouse hosted in Azure.
• Utilize tools such as ODBC and SSRS for data transformation and integration from various sources, including APIs.
• Work with Power BI for frontend data visualization and reporting.
• Provide support in provisioning user access to the data warehouse and troubleshoot any access-related issues.
• Assist in automating backend processes and cleaning data to ensure data integrity.
• Develop and maintain database diagrams to facilitate understanding and documentation of the data infrastructure.
• Review and edit SQL scripts (written in Python) for data manipulation and analysis within the BI data warehouse.

Qualifications:

• Solid understanding of cloud data engineering principles and practices.
• Proficiency in working with tools such as Power BI, ODBC, SSRS, and SQL for data transformation and analysis.
• Experience with data warehouse provisioning and management, preferably in an Azure environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot and resolve access-related issues.
• Familiarity with database design concepts and the ability to create and maintain database diagrams.
• Prior experience in scripting languages such as Python for data manipulation is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
